Inventions by Women A-Z

April 2015 A-Z Challenge

(26 posts, starting
with the letter "A")

This is only a sampling of the many inventions American women have made. There was a time when only men could file a patent, so who knows how many women inventors went unreported. But the known list is also too long to include everyone here, so I randomly chose those I found interesting. I believe all of the inventions listed below changed the world as we know it and left a permanent mark, in big and small ways. I'll let you be the judge.

A - Alphabet Blocks
B - Barbie Doll
C - Chocolate Chip Cookies
D - Disposable Diapers
E - Engine Muffler
F - Fire Escape
G - Globes
H - Home Security System
I - Invisible Glass
J - Jerky
K - Kevlar
L - Life Raft
M - Monopoly
N - Nystatin
O - Optical Analysis System
P - Paper Bags
Q - Q-tips
R - Rolling Pin
S - Spread Spectrum Technology
T - Telephone Switching System
U - Unknown Inventors
V - Vacuum Canning
W - Windshield Wipers
X -X-rays on Wheels
Y - Yellow Mustard Powder
Z - Zucchini Bread

  3. I must agree, woman are truly amazing and ingenious. I don't know what I would do without most of these things, and I'm sure there are many more I take for granted every day too.

"Stay" is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary
(A.B. Alcott). Stay and visit awhile. Your comments mean a lot to me.
