Celebrate the Small Things: An Important Email and End of April Challenge

It's been quite a month. I'm celebrating only two more days left to the A-Z April Challenge. I don't know what hit me. I do this every year, but 2017 will probably be my last time.

Mostly, it's been an interesting month learning about female scientists of antiquity. Boy, there were more women than I realized, so no regrets. And some of the other a-z posts were above board and truly amazing. I hope you were able to visit some.

Mid-April, I had oral surgery on bone in my upper palate. Yeah, I know. That sounds pretty yucky and it could have been more painful than it was. But prayer and two pain pills later I was on the road to recovery. All stitches have since dissolved.

But the best thing about April 2017 will forever be the email I received from a publisher offering to publish my novel!!!!  Assuming all goes as planned, you'll see me doing cartwheels all over the internet when The Shells of Mersing (working title) goes live sometime in July.

I wanted my Celebrate friends to be
the first to "officially" know online.

  1. May I be the first to yell Yippee! A heartfelt congratulations to you for getting your book published. You should be so very proud of all you have accomplished. I am sorry you had to go through that pain and what sounds truly yucky. I am also sad to hear about your last time doing the A to Z....but never say never :)

  3. Congratulations! That's wonderful news. Is it your first sale?

I've done the A to Z twice, though last year it was unofficial, I just did it. And it has been fun, I've written something every day, I've learned things and I've met a few interesting people whose blogs I will now follow and some are now following me, but... A lot of work and I'm not sure I'll be doing it next year.

For the a-z to work you really need to do in advance.

The a-z is a huge commitment and hard to keep up. If I could do months in advance I might consider it again. I missed visiting a lot of great blogs, yours for instance.

  15. Fantastic news about the publishing offer! Huge congratulations. And on making a speedy recovery from your surgery. I didn't do the A-Z this year because I really struggled to get through last year. Maybe next time around...

    1. Thanks, Kate! I have mixed feelings about quitting the a-z. We all seem to agree it's exhausting but as an opportunity to write and research, you can't beat it.

  16. Wonderful news Sharon. Congrats. I've also enjoyed the A to Z. I like the changes re Facebook posting etc which have been an improvement I think. Interesting to note the much lower number of participants this year. Anyway, really happy for you about your novel being published. I know the feeling and it is a great one. I wish you great success with it.
