There are hiking trails in the Umtanums, but hikers should know there are rattlesnakes during the summer. I think I'll pass on hiking the Umtanums and just enjoy the beauty they offer from my window.

ReplyDeletePeople call them the mountains here. At first, I thought of the Umtanums as brown hills, which in the summer they are, and next to Mount Rainier (just beyond) they are! But here being so close, the effect is overwhelming. Thanks Susan!

ReplyDeleteThank you. Last winter we had no snow at all and very little rain. The moisture is long overdue! So far, the mountains are most attractive with snow. They are quite plain otherwise, except for certain times of the day...like sunsets and sunrises.
