Celebrate the Small the Things: Family and Progess

As some of you know, Vince and I are in a race to see who can finish first. I'm trying to get my book published. He's trying to paint

his plane. It would appear he is a good lap ahead. April was a set back for me with the a-z, and now with family (Mom) still visiting, I'm focused on spending time with her. (I've spent one whole day on my book in the last two weeks). But you know.....I have no regrets. I wrote somewhere that family trumps all, and this is one of those times. After spending time learning about my uncle in the Battle of the Bulge, Mom and I have been gardening and hitting the putting course.
Check out my new Shasta Daisy and Petunias!

Ha-ha :) Put-put golf for grownups on Desert Aire's putting course.

Vince applying his first large piece of vinyl wrap underneath the wing. The white vinyl on top is lying loose. It's next. Vinyl wrap is the latest way to paint vehicles and although the learning curve is high, it beats setting up a paint booth and learning how to operate a spray gun. Pretty clever if you ask me.

So celebrating my husband's progress and the priority of family, because when it comes down to what is most important, I'm thankful for family most.

Happy Weekend!

Celebrate the Small Things. To be part of this blog hop, all you have to do is visit the Celebrate page on Lexa's Blog for the rules, and then post every Friday about something you're grateful for that week. 1. Stumped me, Sharon. I was trying to figure out 'what flower' has that green leaf? Then I noticed you listed daisies with petunias!! (smile)

I couldn't tell you this last time I golfed. Wow, may have to get the clubs out this summer. Have a great weekend.

    1. I'm looking forward to the daisies. Wind storm this afternoon sure blew the petunias around. Surprised they are still there! Thanks Dixie!

  2. I love put-put golf! It's great you and your mom are finding fun things to do. Congrats to your clever husband for the vinyl on the plane. I'm way behind on my WIP too. We'll have to catch up at the end of the month. Have a lovely weekend! :)

(Thanks for dropping by my blog. Yes, short stories and novellas are getting popular. People don't have as much time to read nowadays, so they prefer shorts to longs.)

    1. Interesting development the standard novel vs short stories and novellas. I wonder if this is temporary. My life has been so enriched by longer works. I do like short stories, but I seldom read. It has me wondering if I could write one again. Also....I keep asking, what needs to change to bring back those long afternoons when reading a book was so enjoyable and worthwhile?

  5. The purple and white will look so pretty in another month or two. Are the shasta daisies single or double? I just love the double variety, but the single would probably look better with the rustic quality of the petunias and whiskey barrel. (Whether the blooms are single or double, it will look beautiful nonetheless.) Happy weekend.

    1. Hmm.....I haven't a clue. I thought they were single, but it may be a complete surprise :)

  6. We're planning a little mini golf ourselves soon. Ironically my fiance, who loves golf but has not been able to find the time to play for many years, just got a job at a golf club. It's driving her mad. (no pun intended) I'll have to get her some clubs so she can play again.Family first! (After God, of course, who invented and blesses us with family)

    1. Very nice you are engaged David :) I hope you can get in some golfing in together. I'm not very good, but it's kind of nice to be trying at least. I'm very thankful to God for family, and thanks for the reminder, but I'll be the first to admit I'm far from perfect keeping priorities straight. I feel I have much to learn!!

  7. Hi Sharon,

Your mum and your good self, doing some happy gardening and hitting the golf course. Nice one. Did you know that in the UK they call "miniature golf", "crazy golf"? Kind of makes sense :)

Your husband is doing well. I never made it past making paper aeroplanes...

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Gary :)

  9. Ok when you mentioned plane, I thought it was a toy airplane not a real one:) The plane is coming along nicely. I love the picture of you and your mom and it seems to have been a beautiful day. Family is always first

  11. Love the picture of you and your Mom putting. Wish Mom and I had done more things together. We just never really did. Only when I was young and the daily washing the dishes where we talked alot, followed by fun on the ouija board after the dishes were done. We had important things to ask it, like who my next date was going to be at the school dance, lol. DD and I do try to have "girl" time though it's not easy she lives in St. Louis and I'm in Ohio, but am looking forward to a few days in July where she and I will vacation a few days before hubby can join us. So we'll have girl time followed by family time, then she departs and we'll hubby and me time.

    1. Mom and I have enjoyed lots of 'girl time' over the years, but we go for months not seeing each other. I try to take advantage of the time when we get it. Of course, it's natural to feel you never do enough, and I am so aware of how short time is getting the older she gets. I understand how you feel. I think we can only do the best we can, which works both ways too.

  13. I was glad to see a picture to see your mother . What is the Blog Hop?

  14. Hi Linda. Just saw this. Blog hops are a lot fun. You visit people on the list, read their posts and make comments. You name is added to the list, so others can find you and comment on your post. It's a fun way to meet other bloggers. Every Friday should you decide, post on something you'd like to celebrate. This is one of the best blog hops around.

"Stay" is a charming word in a friend's vocabulary
(A.B. Alcott). Stay and visit awhile. Your comments mean a lot to me.
